Melanin markets winter wonders
We are taking over the Whitworth art gallery, for a whole weekend of Black-owned businesses, culture, creativity and festive joy!
Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, you’ll find over 40 Black-owned businesses and creatives bringing a variety of incredible products and services to the gallery. Come ready to shop, and definitely come hungry.
There’s plenty to get stuck into. Look out for Damaris Edey’s bold, colourful art celebrating Black women; Soleil Dee’s handmade bags and accessories made with African fabrics; and Joolzery’s jewellery, from statement rings to one-of-a-kind earrings. Earthie Organics is bringing skincare rooted in West African ingredients and Igbo heritage. And if you need a shopping break, TeeTee Bakes has petite cakes packed with big flavour, while Manchester’s Root2Ginger is bringing the fiery ginger drinks that started as a Caribbean family festive tradition.
That’s just a taste of the line-up. Expect more fashion, books, beauty, homeware, food, drink and gifts across the weekend, including a few things you’ll buy for someone else and immediately wish you’d kept.
Beyond the stalls, the Grand Hall will bring the music, dance and performance, with more family-friendly festivities still to be announced. Meet the people behind the businesses, discover someone new and put some of your festive spend into Black-owned businesses.
Come for the community, the food and a good day out. Find a few gifts while you’re here.
